AT least four people, two of them known Beitbridge socialites , are feared dead in a head on collision between a Toyota Quantum and another vehicle 10 kilometres outside Beitbridge.

Victims in the smaller car were mourners returning from a burial of popular Beitbridge disc jockey Pius Ndou while those in the minibus were burnt to death after being trapped in their vehicle.

The accident occurred  Sunday afternoon.

Beitbridge District police commander Chief Superintendent Tichaona Nyongo confirmed  the accident and police investigations are underway.

Beitbridge socialite and aspiring councillor Boyd Maphosa said: "I heard at least four people lost their lives in that head on crash. We are waiting for details but information has it among the deceased were local well known people".

The Toyota Quantum registered in South Africa is understood to have been carrying school children returning from holidays in that country to Bulawayo.
