Miss Eco-Tourism stripped of title over abortion allegations

"You are easily disposable, you are just lucky to be there,” goes what is called a golden quote in the modelling industry.

This has become a reality for dethroned Miss EcoToursim Boitshepo Shumba who yesterday lost her crown and title amid an alleged abortion scandal.

She was meant to represent Zimbabwe in Durban later this year but she has since been kicked to the kerb.

According to a source close to the developments, Shumba is being sued by the organisers of Miss EcoTourism.

“They have already served her with court papers. The contract she signed with them states that they will sue her for R50 000 if she brought the brand into disrepute,” the source said.

NewsDay Life & Style has also learnt that Shumba was not at home when the sheriff of the court arrived to serve the papers that were, however, received by her mother on her behalf.

As if to rub salt to the wound, her modelling agency and management, Truth Models has also shown her the exit door.

Truth Models founder Pardon Khanye confirmed to NewsDay Life & Style that they no longer manage Shumba.

“We would like to let the public know that outgoing Miss Truth and brand ambassador Boitshepo Shumba has been stripped of her title with immediate effect. We have also terminated her contract, meaning she is no longer associated with our academy,” Khanye said.

When contacted for comment, Shumba’s mother said: “Go back to your source. They have already told you everything, so go to them and get more.”

Miss EcoTourism licence holder and organiser Petronella Moyo declined to comment.

“Wait, we need to go to our lawyer first and seek advice on the matter and we will get back to you.” she said.
