TASHINGA Matindike launched The Lady Tash Creativity at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe over the weekend.

Matindike comes from a fine art educational background and her interest in fashion emanates from an art exhibition that she executed at undergraduate level at The Michaelis School of Fine Arts, University of Cape Town in South Africa.

As an extension of her business, she decided to revisit her love for fashion by partaking in bespoke garment design, which she turned into a three-dimensional object when worn.

“I hope to revive my interest in fashion by expanding into fabric design, which I once explored as an undergraduate,” she told NewsDay Life & Style.

Some of the products and services launched included a fashion show exhibiting a small collection of bespoke garments that were designed by Lady Tash and most of the garments were made from African fabric.

“My garments are wearable designs that are contemporary in style, yet they capture the African identity through the use of African fabrics from around the continent with a touch of seasonal colours and trends,” she noted.

Included in the programme at the Lady Tash Creativity products and services launch was an array of entertainment which came from up-and-coming musicians such as contemporary jazz singer Ranga and choreographer, Marvin Kuda Ndoro and his group.

The event was co-ordinated by Chipo Dauramanzi, who made sure each part of the evening ran smoothly. Joyce Chimanye and author Joyce Jenje-Makwende were the special guests.

Lady Tash Creativity is a small start-up company that is in search for business in the local community whose core business involves organising bespoke corporate events, personalised commemorative artwork and garments.
