Zanu PF’s incapacity suffocating Zim

Letters
Unemployment is at a record high and is set to increase, yet the clueless government is unable to arrest the situation.

THE country’s economic health has remained precarious under Zanu PF’s misrule for more than four decades.

For years, the situation has been worsened by disputed elections.

In 2023, Zimbabwe cannot afford another disputed election.

Youths should vote in numbers to save themselves from the Zanu PF misery.

Unemployment is at a record high and is set to increase, yet the clueless government is unable to arrest the situation.

Rising prices of basic commodities in general, poor service delivery in local authorities and 12-hour load-shedding is cause for great concern.

The people of Zimbabwe should vote for change in 2023.

Those who rigged the election in the past have realised that, while they could rig the elections, it is impossible to rig the economy. As is evident, the economy is freezing fast; it shows a clear deficit in market confidence.

While it is possible to tamper with votes, it is not possible to tamper with figures in economics. What Zanu PF does not understand is that once one rapes the election, they also rape the economy.

Zimbabwe needs a government that is clear, clever and hardworking.

The current government suffers a terrible deficiency in governing and economic philosophy.

The government must understand that moving the economy forward requires legitimacy and the respect of what the people voted for. It also requires a government that respects the rights of the people, the rule of law and promote public peace and trust.

The economy needs national stability, which is why the failed Zanu PF government must be booted out of office in 2023.-Mai Ruru

Propaganda, lies will not resurrect Zim economy

THE country’s economy is on its knees and probably needs biblical resurrection.

The Zanu PF government has lost its marbles and its successive economic blueprints have failed to turn around the country’s fortunes.

For the past 20 or so years, the Zanu PF government has been busy chasing after the opposition day and night. It is unfortunate that the regime has nothing to offer besides regurgitating propaganda stories in the State media.

Stories like connecting the rural schools to the internet and resuscitation of Ziscosteel have been in the media for several years, but nothing has materialised. Surely a country cannot be built on propaganda and lies.

Democracy is being choked. Zimbabwe is regressing politically and economically.

Opposition activists, especially from the Citizens Coalition for Change, face arrest, harassment and intimidation on a daily basis just for speaking out on corruption and poor governance.

Political persecution continues unabated  with Zanu PF untouchables inciting violence and threatening to kill without the police taking any action.

Corruption has shot through the roof and no one seems to care.

Inflation is spiralling out of control and the new dispensation is in sixes and sevens. The country’s precious minerals are being smuggled out of the country every day. Hospitals have no medication and people are dying of curable diseases.

Unemployment figures have reached all-time high and youth are resorting to crime, prostitution and drug abuse. All hope has been lost.

In short, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has dismally failed since he took over in 2017.

There is no other political party which will rescue Zimbabwe from its economic, political and social quagmire other than Nelson Chamisa’s Citizens Coalition for Change.

Families today cannot afford a decent meal. Most of them are surviving on donations.

How can our people survive on handouts in a country endowed with natural resources.

Obviously, these endowments are benefitting the elite and those politically connected. The nation is ripe for change in 2023.

Council should improve security at Mbare Musika

CHECK and agree with me that the precast wall at Mbare Musika is broken and will not assure farmers security of their produce.

In fact, when goods were stolen in the past, the precast wall was intact, what about when it is open as it is now?

It is so painful that my parents on three successive instances went home with nothing after they were robbed of their goods.

The man next to my parents’s house was left with a broken tooth and a torn upper lip after he tried to fight back against the robbers.

The robbers are known youths in Mbare, but it seems they are untouchable.

The municipal guards are not doing anything to protect traders, but only come to ask for daily payments.

To make matters worse, the municipal guards do not issue receipts upon paying parking fees. This means the Harare City Council is loosing million of dollars in potential revenue through this scheme.

The robbers even boast about their feats in the presence of the security guards.

The security personnel seem to be in a well-calculated scheme to cream-off the poor and struggling vendors because they at times confiscate goods, accusing traders of having not paid the daily selling levy.

City fathers should look into the security of traders and their goods as a matter of urgency, since they pay their levies.
