Manchester — Manchester United are reportedly closing in on a Brazil star who could replace Cristiano Ronaldo at the club.

Following two consecutive Premier League defeats, to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford, manager Erik ten Hag has admitted he wants more signings and that they must be “quality”.

The Red Devils have been linked with a number of names in recent times as they continue to scour Europe for players who could bolster the current squad.

However, it appears Ten Hag has turned his attention to one of Morata’s current teammates instead.

According to talkSPORT, the Red Devils are now closing in on a move for Selecao attacker Matheus Cunha for £42 million (R832 million).

Per French journalist Julien Laurens, the 23-year-old, who made his senior debut for Brazil in September last year and has represented the national team seven times since, is keen on making the switch to Old Trafford, despite still having four years left on his deal at the Wanda Metropolitano.

This news comes after recent reports suggested that Ten Hag is now open to parting ways with Ronaldo after the star’s problematic behaviour since returning to the fold this season. — KickOff
