Understanding believers’ blessedness

Opinion & Analysis
Misguided elements and charlatans in the religious world take advantage of those lazy to seek the Truth. They say ignorance is expensive; you can even end up paying for what you already have.

By Erasmus Makarimayi Oftentimes believers don’t appreciate the depth, and comprehend to the fullest the extent of their blessedness in Christ. Being born again is being ushered into the reality of the blessing of God, which needs to be known/acknowledged and experienced. Naïve and gullible Christians are often taken for a ride by ignorant mischievous fraudsters seeking to line up their pockets.

Tormented weak minds always run around the show looking for the blessing that is already in them. Misguided elements and charlatans in the religious world take advantage of those lazy to seek the Truth. They say ignorance is expensive; you can even end up paying for what you already have. This column always encourages readers to prayerfully study their Bibles and walk in the truth therein. Christ in you, the hope of glory has no curse in Him.

Before I talk about your blessedness, we have to appreciate that so important is your blessedness that the last act Jesus performed before He was taken up to glory is blessing. Luke 24:51 records: “And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.” As Grace believers, we don’t doubt our blessedness. What God has blessed cannot be cursed. Period.

Beloved such is the seriousness and sincerity of the knowledge of the truth that you are blessed that the last act Jesus did before His ascension was blessing His disciples. Wow! The enabling power fell upon them. It made the difference. The apostles, who had earlier recoiled in fear with trepidation after the arrest of Jesus, bounced back with boldness and preached with verve. Jesus took away curses and nailed them to the cross. He didn’t leave the world/earth with curses, but blessings. So comforting!

The One who blessed is in you. The Blesser resides in you. Moreover you are in the Blesser. You are so blessed; blessed beyond curses. John 14:20 paints the picture clearer: “At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.” Jesus is in God the Father. We are in Christ. Christ is in us. We are inseparable from God the Father in Christ. How then can curses find a way through?

As light, we have no fellowship with darkness. We stand and refuse anything that does not tally with blessedness. The blessings manifest in and through us and we manifest the blessing of God. So sickness, poverty, hardship, unemployment, etc. Exit our arena bowing to the blessing of God the Father in us. We are not ignorant and we cannot be cheated. The devil should never dupe you into believing and claiming what you are not.

King Balak of Moab asked prophet Balaam to curse Israel but Israel could not be cursed because God had pronounced His blessing upon them. Numbers 23:20 records: “Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.” As a New Testament believer you have to know that the blessing is something already accomplished by the finished work of Jesus. Ephesians 1:3 puts it thus: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:” Our predisposition is to bless God, that is speak well of Him.

Our Father has already blessed us. It’s a past tense reality. Please understand that this blessing is already there before we pray or fast. We pray and fast because we are blessed. We give because we are blessed. Even under the Old Covenant, the blessings of the Lord spilled to non-Israelites for the sake of Israel. Genesis 39:5 is instructive, “And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.”

We are blessed with all spiritual blessings. So we are not going to look anywhere else for blessings, we are blessed with all spiritual blessings. The blessings are spiritual not physical. They are eternal, that is everlasting. They are in the heaven lies. They manifest in our lives. The blessings are not such things as houses or cars. A house or a car is a result of the blessing. So we do not say God has blessed me with a house or car. You are blessed in the heavenlies. The blessings are in Christ. So everything is in Christ. As a believer you know that you are in Christ. Ephesians 2:6 tells us, “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:”

We are in the blessing and we look nowhere for the blessing, but we seek knowledge of what is in us and stimulate it to bring it to full manifestation and fruition. Give effect and expression to blessing and not curses. You’re blessed, enjoy your blessing. I call you blessed. Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Grace and peace be multiplied to you through knowledge.
