Refurbishment of the laundry room began at the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic.

BY PATRICIA SIBANDA BULAWAYO Metropolitan Affairs and Devolution minister Judith Ncube says Thorngrove Hospital laundry room rehabilitation is 76% to completion.

Refurbishment of the laundry room began at the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The refurbishment of the laundry room is ongoing and I am advised that it’s currently at 76%. Government is making efforts to ensure the hospital is fully refurbished,” Ncube said.

Last week, Cimas donated an industrial washing machine, ironing set station and an industrial dryer worth R551 609 to the hospital.

Ncube said the health sector was facing several challenges such as shortages of critical equipment, specialised personnel and dilapidated infrastructure and shortages of essential medicines.

“These challenges were exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected provision of quality healthcare,” she said.
