Mangwiro concerned over City’s position

After shocking Ngezi Platinum Stars in their own backyard, they followed up that with a draw against Manica Diamonds.

BY MAGRETH RUZVIDZO Harare City coach Taurai Mangwiro is concerned with the team’s current position on the log where despite sitting 11th, are only two points above the drop zone.

The municipal side has been unbeaten in its last four matches where it won one and drew three matches.

The Sunshine Boys are currently 12th positioned with 16 points — 14 points behind log leaders, Dynamos.

After shocking Ngezi Platinum Stars in their own backyard, they followed up that with a draw against Manica Diamonds.

Mangwiro wants to see his charges grind out results.

“So as a team, we are worried about our current position. The team is playing generally well but not grinding results.  If you ask me at the moment, if there is something that I need, then it is three points which has proved to be very difficult to get and it would require us to dig deep so as to try and improve our position on the log and breathe life into our campaign,” Mangwiro said.

Ahead of their trip to Gweru where they face WhaWha, Mangwiro has implored his charges to guard against complacency as they face a team that is second from bottom on the table.

“One of the biggest challenges we are going to have is that of complacency. We respect WhaWha as an opponent, but if we are to get complacent then we are bound to lose it. I have been watching them and following their progress over the last few weeks after they made reinforcements. They are now a different team and the fact that they beat the pacesetters, Chicken Inn, in one of the encounters shows the kind of threat they can pose to any of the teams,” said Mangwiro.

“The game against WhaWha, to me, would pose a major threat to us considering their position on the log. While we are not far from them, I still feel they will pose a major threat to us because we tend to be complacent playing against lowly-placed teams and then we want to up our game when we play against the teams at the top.”

Whawha lost four of their last five, while claiming maximum points in their shock win over Chicken Inn.
