BY SILISIWE MABALEKA SOUTH AFRICA-BASED Zimbabwean hip-hop artiste Dylan “DwezzyBwoiWonder” Nyambe said it was inspiring to be recognised in a foreign country.

DwezzyBwoiWonder was recently nominated for the Best Hip-Hop Artiste at the Mzansi Arts Media Awards (Mama) set for September 10 at Carousel.

According to the organisers, the awards are meant to uplift artistes in South Africa and help them achieve their dreams within the arts and media industry.

Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style, DwezzyBwoiWonder said competing with top South African singers was not easy.

“Being nominated for the Best Hip-Hop Artiste at the Mama is proof that determination and trusting in God yield success. I feel motivated to keep on producing good quality music,” he said.

“I am happy to see myself moving in the right lane because it’s not that easy to get nominated at such prestigious awards in a foreign land. Through God and hard work now I am competing with Mzansi artistes for votes.”

DwezzyBwoiWonder desires to be recognised as best of the best representing Zimbabwe on the global music stage.

“My wish is to keep on working very hard so that one day I become that heavyweight artiste who will represent Zimbabwe not on the regional stage, but internationally, raising the country’s flag high,” he said.

DwezzyBwoiWonder stormed the airwaves in 2018 after releasing his Best On Best album that opened avenues for him to collaborate with both regional and international artistes.

Best On Best features most of South Africa’s music heavyweights such as Asaph, MsizKay and Mzoe7.

He also collaborated with Nigerians Gigi Lamayne and MaE Tkinzy and award-winning Lil Dizzie as well as Zambian Roberto of the Amarula fame.

“Through the album Best On Best I connected with South African radio DJs who played the album on different radio stations,” he said.

Away from the stage, DwezzyBwoiWonder is an entrepreneur, Gauteng brand ambassador with the Score Energy Drink, a South African company.
