By Courage Nyaya Bodybuilders from different parts of the country are set to flexing their muscles at the Odyssey Ironman Zimbabwe Body Building and Fitness competition taking place in Kadoma at the weekend.

The competition promises fireworks, with contests in six divisions and a number of top contenders participating.

Athletes will compete for the Senior Men Body Building, Junior Men Body Building, up to and including 23 years category, Wheelchair Men Body Building, Men Physic and Men Fitness.

National Federation of Zimbabwe Bodybuilding and Fitness (NFZBBF) secretary-general, Quiet Shangani told NewsDay Sport that preparations were going well and that the athletes were ready for the big competition.

“It’s going to be a big show. The athletes are raring to go. We are working flat out to make sure that in terms of logistics, we are on point,” he said.

“We are having Ironman Sports and Fitness festival on May 28, 2022 in Kadoma at the Odyssey, where the main attraction is the Ironman Zimbabwe Bodybuilding and Fitness competition, which was formally known as the Mr and Mrs Ironman.

“We are expecting Mark Vasilatos, Edward Mutero, Francis Chidere, Gedion Teguru, Chantel Bhachi and Shyleen Nyathi, among other top athletes. There are additional events happening outside the body building and fitness competition. We also have strength challenges where people are tested on their strength.”
