BY CHIEDZA MAZHANGARA LOCAL film director Neville Sandama says his latest project titled Yeukai will be premiered at in Mabvuku, Harare, on Saturday.

Sandama told NewsDay Life & Style that the film, which features South African actor Howard James Fyvie, will be screened on ZBCTV, Sadc and YouTube.

“The film tells a heartbreaking account of a newly-married couple and how the wife becomes blind due to a rare disease. Her husband must dig deep to find a cure for the blindness and sacrifices what he never thought possible to help his wife regain her sight,” he said.

“In the process, we get to witness what steadfast love looks like, the type of love that reminds us of how God feels about us and how he brings the blind and gives them sight again”.

He added: “The film is unique in that it is set in a local environment — Harare’s Eastview — and tells an exceptional home-grown story with a fresh twist at the end.”

Sandama said he was inspired to produce the film by the realisation that the Christian community no longer has genuine love for God.

“This film is going to act as a reminder that it still remains people’s duty to love God. As a way of reaching out to the community, we are going to have public screening in townships,” he said.

Sandama said combining local cast that includes Clayton Katape and Talent Vinyu and South Africans was an important step that gave actors a chance to exchange notes.

“I am looking forward to a positive response not only from the Christianity community, but the nation at large since the film is meant for everyone.
