ZANU PF’s Mazowe district chairperson, Alexander Makukula, has been sentenced to 15 years in jail for raping his maid.

Makukula was sentenced today by Bindura regional magistrate Amos Mbobo who suspended three years of the sentence on condition of good behaviour.

Prosecutor Gossy Mudambu told the court that sometimes in July last year, Makukula was at his farm in Mazowe with the victim who was his maid after his wife had gone out.

The victim went to bath and Makukula followed her to the bathroom and raped her.

The politician then ordered the victim not to disclose the rape.

The victim was escorted to the ward councillor Edwin Chinotimba (Zanu PF) who subsequently escorted her to Mazowe Police Station to report the incident, leading to Makukula’s arrest.
