The accused, Tawanda Hove (29) was remanded in custody to tomorrow for bail hearing.

BY TREVOR MUTSVAIRO A-HARARE man was today arraigned before Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda facing allegations of stealing Tel-One cables.

The accused, Tawanda Hove (29) was remanded in custody to tomorrow for bail hearing.

He is accused of stealing cables measuring 250m and valued at $942 500.

It is alleged that on  March 9 this year during the night, Hove and his accomplices who are still at large  went to St Patrick’s Road in Hatfield, Harare where they cut an underground Tel-One cable measuring 250 metres.

They used a Mazda BT3500 as a get-away vehicle.

While Hove was transporting the cables, he got stuck in the mud close to Epworth in Harare.

Members of the public then caught him and alerted the police who then arrested him at the scene.

However, his accomplices managed to run away.

Tel-One underground cables measuring about 250 metres, a hack saw and the get-away motor vehicle were recovered.
