BY WINSTONE ANTONIO ORGANISERS of tonight’s One Night Only concert to be headlined by South African Afro-pop duo, Blaq Diamond said because of public demand the group had lined up more shows in Zimbabwe.

Initially, Blaq Diamond was billed to only perform at Pabloz VIP Lounge, Sam Levy Village in Harare, but the awe-inspiring response to their visit would now take them to Gwanda and Beitbridge.

Made up of Ndumiso Mdletshe and Sphelele Dunywa, Blaq Diamond makes a return to Zimbabwe after a successful show held in Bulawayo last year courtesy of 2Kings Entertainment and Royal Djs. Concert spokesperson Dee Nosh told NewsDay Life & Style that the addition of two more shows to Blaq Diamond’s itinerary was in response to public demand.

“The coming of Blaq Diamond to Zimbabwe has generated a lot of interest to many music followers such that apart from tonight’s show, we have added two more shows. After their performance in Harare tonight, they will be in Gwanda tomorrow and will end their tour with a performance in Beitbridge,” he said.

Dee Nosh said the KwaZulu-Natal natives would touch down at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport this afternoon ahead of the evening show.

“The boys have their Zimbabwean fans at heart and are happy to be coming for the shows. They have promised fireworks. This is a show not to be missed,” he said.

“Ordinary tickets for the show are selling at US$20 while for the VIP people have to book a table through Pabloz. Taking into cognisance that COVID-19 is still in our midst, all protocols will be observed.”

At tonight’s concert, Blaq Diamond will be supported by local wheelspinners Dj Juice, Dj Am and Dj Selekta Base.

They recognised each other’s talent and skills when they were doing a rap battle on the school bus and from there, they decided to link up and form a group.

They released their debut album Inqola in 2017, which became their first iTunes number one.

They went on to win big and also made history at the 27th edition of South African Music Awards where they won the Artist of the Year award.

Blaq Diamond is known for hits such as Ibhanyoi, Woza My Love and Love Letter.
