A SOLDIER based in Fort Rixon, Matabeleland South province, has been sentenced to an effective three-year jail term for shooting a villager on the leg with an AK47 rifle during a beer brawl in 2020.

Masilinge Right Mula (36) who was deployed at General Dube’s farm in Fort Rixon was on Friday convicted for attempted murder by Bulawayo regional magistrate Dambudzo Malunga.

Mula was sentenced to five years in jail, two of which were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
