BY MAGRETH RUZVIDZO The 2021 Rainbow Amateur Netball League (RANL) champions, Glow Petroleum coach Perpetua Siyachitema believes that her side is ready to start defending the title with the 2022 edition set to kick off Saturday.
Siyachitema, who received the Coach of The Year Award at a ceremony held at the weekend, said her team would work hard to retain the title.
“I didn’t really have a smooth run last season. So, this season I will work hard with my girls and make sure that we have straight wins throughout the season,” Siyachitema said.
The 2021 season was marred by disruptions across all sport codes which made it difficult for many teams to mantain consistency.
Though the league opened the transfer window in January, Siyachitema believes that the team she had last season is still strong enough to compete this season.
“I have maintained all my previous players and they have been having individual training,” she said.
The former Gems captain, who also received the Coach of the Season Award, believes the award will propel her to greater heights and inspire fellow female coaches
“I felt happy and challenged at the same time. I feel I now need to work even harder so that I can achieve more for myself and my team. I’m also hoping to inspire female coaches,” she said.
