BY REX MPHISA POLICE in Beitbridge on Tuesday fatally shot an armed robber and arrested two others following a shootout
National police spokesperson Paul Nyathi said Zakaria Ncube (41) and Brianmax Tom Madau (26) were arrested in Beitbridge in connection with a robbery which occurred in Chiredzi following a shootout.
“As a result of the shootout, one suspect was injured on the left shoulder and was later arrested as he sought medical attention at Beitbridge District Hospital,” Nyathi said.
“Investigations by police led to the arrest of Brianmax Tom Mudau and the recovery of a stolen Honda Fit vehicle at Mudhau Shopping Centre, Beitbridge.
“Police recovered R8 070 and US$205 on the seat, and a yet to be identified body on the back seat of the vehicle. A pistol with obliterated serial numbers and a magazine of eight rounds were recovered on the body’s waist belt.
“Police crack teams are on full alert and will deal decisively with criminal elements. Meanwhile, Police are working around the clock to account for all notorious robbers who are maiming, killing and taking away people’s property through violent acts. “
The suspects pounced at MC Compound, Chikombedzi, Chiredzi, on March 29 and stole US$1 000, R8 000, bank cards, Huawei, P37 Itel, Samsung A11 cellphones and a Nissan Caravan vehicle.
