BY CHIEDZA MAZHANGARA MIDLANDS State University (MSU) human resources student Mark Junior Mabwe will represent the country at this year’s Mister Africa International pageant scheduled for next month in a yet-to-be announced host nation.
Mabwe told NewsDay Life & Style that he was privileged to be representing the country at such a prestigious pageant.
“Taking into account that we have more worthy models and a lot of talent within the local modelling and fitness industry, being the chosen one to represent the nation is nothing short of an honour,” he said.
“I am confident that with the support of my nation, we can come out winners. Last year, King Devson Luzane was impressive as he finished among the top four models and this is an indication that a win is definitely within reach.”
Mabwe said he was appealing for sponsorship to fulfil his dream.
Director for Mister Africa Zimbabwe Tapiwanashe Ruba said Mister Africa International pageant is meant to promote Africa’s male models and celebrate the modelling sector at large.
“Mister Africa International pageant comes with a lot of packages that include opportunities for contestants to meet other models from different African nations as well as network and share their cultures,” he said.
Ruba said the pageant is also an opportunity for models to work with international brands.

“The pageant is not only about giving models exposure to international platforms nor is it about fitness and being stylish only.
“The pageant is for the models to work hand in hand with communities surrounding their environment for a better future,” he said.
“Through the pageant, models are always requested to take part in any community and charity work.”
