BY METHEMBE SIBANDA BEVERAGES producer and distributor Delta Corporation has donated physiotheraphy equipment worth US$50 000 to Sally Mugabe Hospital in Harare to help improve service delivery at the health institution.
The equipment included massagers, muscle straightening posture, mirrors and warble boards, among others.
Delta Corporation spokesperson Patricia Murambinda said the donation was in line with the beverages maker’s commitment towards improving access to healthcare.
“The project is in line with our focused sustainability platform to give access to a healthier world in the communities where we operate. As market leaders we have a responsibility to make a meaningful difference, to empower and protect the communities and the environment in which we operate,” she said.
Hospital chief executive officer Christopher Pasi said: “We cater for patients with a wide range of health challenges, including stroke, burns, orthopaedic conditions, surgical conditions, medical conditions and mental illness.
“These different conditions require different treatment modalities and equipment in order for us to meet our goal of rehabilitating the patients we meet.”
Most of the country’s public health centres lack basic equipment and machinery due to years of underfunding.
