Chicken Inn in tough fixtures

Joey Antipas

CHICKEN Inn coach Joey “Mafero” Antipas is unfazed by the tough fixture list facing his side in the coming weeks which will certainly test his side’s resolve as the early favourites for the league championship.

The table toppers are away to rejuvenated Ngezi Platinum Stars at the weekend before hosting second-placed Manica Diamonds next week, matches which will be regarded as six-pointers in the context of the title race matrix.

Hot on the heels will be a tricky match against WhaWha, a team that has its back against the wall.

Antipas, whose side has been in good form so far, is aware of what lies in the immediate future, but is hoping they will be able to come out unscathed.

“Every game we play is tough and competitive so we have to handle the pressure well,” Antipas said.

“There are no easy games. Teams are trying to come up, so it’s difficult to predict. We play it game by game and trying to pick up positive points,” he added.

The GameCocks, 2015 league champions, currently top the log standings with 19 points from eight matches, and are followed by Manica Diamonds, who are two points behind.

Ngezi Platinum Stars, who have found their mojo in recent weeks following a blip that looked to disturb their season, are not far off with 15 points. They beat defending champions FC Platinum in their last match.

Another title challenger Dynamos has 16 points, the same as Triangle, who are also vying for their first ever league title.

These two have a chance to top the log standings should Chicken Inn lose to Ngezi Platinum Stars on Saturday.
