A BOGUS Registrar-General’s Office employee appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court yesterday charged with defrauding a passport applicant of US$230.
Nyasha Chihombori (23) appeared before magistrate Yeukai Dzuda, who remanded him in custody to today for bail ruling.
The complainant is Farisai Chivivite of Mbizo, Kwekwe.
Allegations are that on Monday, Chihombori approached Chivivite who was at the Passport Office applying for a travel document and lied that he was employed at the RG’s Office.
He promised to assist Chivivite secure a passport within a short space of time for US$230. Chihombori vanished after receiving the money, but was spotted in the central business district, resulting in his arrest.
