BY TANYARADZWA NHARI STANBIC Bank Zimbabwe has won the Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) award for 2022.
The award was given by Global Banking and Finance Review.
The award recognised Stanbic’s CSR initiatives undertaken in 2021 which covered a wide spectrum of areas.
“Notwithstanding the COVID-19 pandemic which has claimed more than 5 000 lives countrywide …Stanbic…still managed to give back to the community in which it operates leading to this award given by Global Bank and Finance Review,” a statement on the award said.
Last year in November, Stanbic donated a US$15 000 hemodialysis machine to Gwanda Provincial Hospital.
This played a pivotal role in alleviating kidney failure challenges faced by patients in the area.
The machine helps prolong life when kidneys fail due to conditions that include hypertension and diabetes.
In addition to the machine, Stanbic also donated US$20 000 to Cancer Association of Zimbabwe to purchase chemotherapy drugs, and donated US$3,5 million worth of sun protection items to the Albino Charity Organisation of Zimbabwe.

In 2020, Stanbic Bank donated US$20 000 worth of personal protective equipment, ventilators and test kits at a time when the country was grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic, giving rise to an urgent need for such equipment.
Stanbic Bank has also constructed a state-of–the-art mothers waiting home in Nyamuzuwe, Mutoko, Mashonaland East province.
