Search for mushroom leads to suspected human remains

It is alleged that on Sundayat around 3pm, a 15-year-old boy who was looking for mushrooms in Waddilove Farm stumbled upon the remains suspected to be of a human being.

By JAIROS SAUNYAMA SUSPECTED human remains were discovered on Monday near Waddilove High School in Marondera.

The remains have been sent to Marondera Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson Inspector Simon Chazovachii confirmed the incident, adding that investigations were in progress.

“We are waiting for post-mortem results to ascertain whether the discovered bones belong to a human being.

Investigations are ongoing and we will advise on the progress in the matter,” he said.

It is alleged that on Sundayat around 3pm, a 15-year-old boy who was looking for mushrooms in Waddilove Farm stumbled upon the remains suspected to be of a human being.

The teenager informed elders in the area who filed a police report.

Police attended the scene and discovered that the remains were covered by a black jacket, grey shorts and black trousers.

Police also discovered a shoe at the scene.
