Platinum Queens have continued to dominate domestic netball after they scooped the Premier Netball League (PNL) pre-season tournament title on Saturday and managed to walk away with US $300, a trophy and medals.
The tourney was held at Stodart Netball Complex and saw more than 20 teams participating.
The Zvishavane-based side were the champions of the inaugural the champions of the PNL going unbeaten with only one draw in the entire season.
In Saturday’s event, Platinum Queens won 15-14 in their tightly contested final match against ZDF Queens.
PNL public relations and media officer Yeukai Muchenu said the event was a huge success as all teams managed to take part in the event and showed commitment in their performance.
“There was great competition amongst teams and this season we are expecting fireworks and more fun,” Muchenu said.
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the league was held concurrently with the tournament and Muchenu highlighted some of the issues that came up from the meeting.

“We managed to hold our AGM and it was agreed that the league games start on April 2 and play in a bubble format with four teams per bubble,” she said.
“The fixture will be ready as soon as the governors have agreed on the format we are to use this season.”
The pre-season tournament was held to measure the preparedness of the players and to mark the beginning of the 2022 season.
Second placed ZDF Queens were awarded $200, a trophy and medals. Harare City came third and received US $100, trophy and medals whilst Ngezi Platinum which came fourth walked away with a trophy.
