Gokwe lags behind in HIV, Aids literacy: Nac

Local News
Nac data modelling, monitoring and evaluation co-ordinator Isaac Taramusi said anti-retroviral therapy (ART) coverage in all districts was at 91,1%.

BY NHAU MANGIRAZI GOKWE is the least knowledgeable district about HIV and Aids in Midlands province, a National Aids Council (Nac) survey has shown.

Nac data modelling, monitoring and evaluation co-ordinator Isaac Taramusi said anti-retroviral therapy (ART) coverage in all districts was at 91,1%.

‘‘Unfortunately, Gokwe North has the lowest status knowledge recorded at 76,4%. The highest ART coverage was recorded in Hurungwe (Mashonaland West) and Mazowe (Mashonaland Central) that were pegged at 97,1%.

“All districts except for Gokwe North have an ART coverage of more than 81%. This is an impressive approach in combating HIV and Aids,” Taramusi told journalists in Chinhoyi.

Nac chief executive Bernard Madzima said the media played a critical role in the HIV fight.

“‘We implore the journalists to help the country achieve the Zimbabwe World Aids campaign 2022-30 through achieving the 95/95/95 goals,” Madzima said.
