PARTS of Kariba, Mashonaland West province, have been hit by a diarrhoea outbreak, with several cases having been reported.

Kariba district medical officer Godwin Muza yesterday said he was not aware of the cases and advised affected residents to visit their nearest medical facilities.

“I am not aware of the outbreak, but I encourage anyone suspecting that they might have contracted diarrhoea to report to their nearest medical centre for attention,” Muza said.

He urged community health technicians to collect water samples for investigation.

Parts of Nyamhunga 1 were reportedly the hardest hit.

“The water which we have been receiving of late is dirty,” said a Nyamhunga resident.

Kariba mayor George Masendu confirmed the outbreak.

“The town recorded a few cases, but the situation is under control,” he said.
