By Desmond Chingarande Zimbabwe Cricket player Tarisai Kenneth Musakanda was arrested in connection with the death of former Davis Cup player Gwinyai Chingoka who was run over while crossing Simon Muzenda Avenue early this month.

Musakanda (27) appeared before a Harare magistrate Evelyn Mashavakure who remanded him to February 22 on free bail.

The Zimbabwe cricket player is being charged with culpable homicide and failing to report the accident.

Allegations are that Musakanda failed to keep proper lookout of the road and hit Chingoka who was crossing Simon Vengai Muzenda road.

Chingoka allegedly sustained fractures on the left leg and elbow due to the impact.

It is alleged Musakanda stopped at the scene of accident and ferried Chingoka to Parirenyatwa Hospital for treatment. He was later transferred to West End Hospital where he later died on January 2022 this year.
