BY TENDAI SAUTA LOCAL multi-award-winning visual artist Eckel Nyamhondoro is exhibiting at the ongoing Pakistan International Group Virtual Exhibition organised by the Oyster Art Gallery in Pakistan.
The exhibition, that ends on December 30, is a classical display of artworks from 65 countries.
This is Nyamhondoro’s second virtual exhibition having landed in Pakistan for the first time in 2018 through an invitation by the same gallery.
“I hope and wish to become the people’s favourite during my exhibition at the gallery.
This opportunity will help people across the world to appreciate Shona art,” Nyamhondoro told NewsDay Life & Style.
“. . . for example, John Mariga, Henry Munyaradzi, Bernard Matemera, Nicholas Mukomberanwa are regarded as the first-generation Shona visual artists whereas the truth is still not yet known ….it dates back to the Madzimbabwe …. the ones that built Great Zimbabwe,” he said.
Nyamhondoro has produced a set of exciting figurines namely, Social Distance Should Not Stop Love and Life after COVID-19 Induced Lockdown.
Apart from exhibiting his artworks at Chitungwiza Arts Gallery and the National Art Gallery of Zimbabwe, he has extensively toured the globe and has harnessed immense followership on different social media platforms.
