EIGHT Shamva illegal gold miners were charged with attempted murder after they allegedly assaulted a rival miner with an axe in a fight over gold claims.
Llyod Musemwa, Tafadzwa Bandawa, Evidence Musemwa, Talent Bhobho, Khedha Madhoti, Fyrum Chatura, Low Zvemanyati and one Gora appeared before Bindura magistrate Samantha Dhlamini on Friday.
They were not asked to plead to the murder charge, and were remanded in custody to December 30.
Prosecutor Shieller Kudzai Maribha told the court that the accused persons, armed with machetes, axes, wooden logs and stones, attacked Trust Mupedziswa, deflated the tyres of his vehicle and destroyed all the glasses and doors.
They ordered him to lie down and assaulted him all over the body leaving him with deep cuts. A police report was made leading to their arrest.
