The 36-year-old had been training with Division One side Simba Bhora where he was hoping to continue his career after he left South Africa. He is related to Simba Ndoro the owner of the Northern region Division One outfit.

BY TAWANDA TAFIRENYIKA FORMER Warriors and Orlando Pirates striker Tendai Ndoro has been forced to call time on his football career due to illness.

Ndoro is said to have been diagnosed with diabetes which is affecting his sight.

The 36-year-old had been training with Division One side Simba Bhora where he was hoping to continue his career after he left South Africa. He is related to Simba Ndoro the owner of the Northern region Division One outfit.

Simba, who has been paying Ndoro’s medical bills, yesterday confirmed that the former attacker was being treated for diabetes, but could not confirm the retirement part.

“He is diabetic and he has been receiving treatment. He is no longer with us, but we have been assisting with medical bills. He was supposed to undergo an operation at the weekend. I will have to check how it went on,” he said.

The former Chicken Inn striker told a close friend he had quit the game because of the illness.

“He said he cannot continue playing because of his condition and is looking to venture into something else,” the source said.

Disturbing images of Ndoro circulated on social media last month with the player looking to have lost weight.

A South African business pledged to help Ndoro out and it’s not clear whether he managed to get through to him.

It was also reported that Ndoro lost properties he acquired playing football to his former South African wife.

The former Zimbabwe international played for Bulawayo side Chicken Inn before he moved to South Africa in 2013 where he played for several clubs including giants Orlando Pirates, Ajax Cape Town, Mpumalanga Black Aces and Highlands Park .

Ndoro’s  career first took a knock after leaving Orlando Pirates for Saudi Arabia in 2018 where he spent less than five months.

He returned to South Africa and joined Ajax Cape Town in early 2018, but was banned from playing later in that year for featuring for three teams in one season which violated Fifa statutes.

The former Chicken Inn striker’s frustrations on the field continued when he moved to Highlands Park at the start of the 2018-2019 season, managing a few appearances.

He last played for Highlands Park against Kaizer Chiefs in January last year when he played the opening 45 minutes before being pulled out.

In May last year, The Lions of the North then announced the departure of the Zimbabwean forward who had kept a low profile since then until he recently surfaced at the Division One outfit in Shamva, Mashonaland Central province.

He last featured for the Warriors at the 2017 African Cup of Nations finals in Gabon.
