ORGANISERS of the Kariba October Festival will host this year’s three-day edition of the fiesta from tomorrow to Sunday.

Guests will be treated to a 10-hour boat cruise as part of the fiesta’s activities.

The festival is not new on the country’s tourism calendar as it has been running under Zim Events Kariba Boat Cruise and Glow Event since 2019 and has attracted revellers from neighbouring Zambia and South Africa.

The two-day event caters for three boating categories — silver, gold and platinum.

The festival organisers, Zim Events, told NewsDay Life & Style that an array of activities will take place to make the festival worth attending.

“The opening ceremony, that will be followed by a bonfire party, will be staged at Tamarind Resort.

“On Saturday, we have a 10-hour boat cruise that starts with an array of activities giving patrons a chance to acclimatise to the Kariba environment,” said Zim Events.

“As part of the festival, there will be Zumba, boozers’ soccer match at Nyamhunga Stadium featuring top boozers’ teams in Zimbabwe, Hustlers 11 that will play Kariba Heights Boozers Club. Other activities to expect include a beauty spa on board.”

Zim Events said the festival was in line with their mandate of promoting domestic tourism so that locals can appreciate what the resort town offers.

“The cruise will include docking at Sampakarumba island and also activities that consist of parasailing, fishing and sunset cruise back to the harbour. After the cruise, there will be an after-cruise fish braai party at Tamarind Resort with an array of activities happening that include pool party and fish braaing.”
