BULAWAYO-BASED hip-hop artiste Trevor “Mahcoy” Sibanda says he is optimistic that his latest extended play (EP) titled Ndinofamba naJesu will help him tap into new markets.

In an interview with NewsDay Life & Style, Mahcoy said as he made a comeback into the music industry after a long silence due to robbery that saw him losing his projects, he was hopeful that the EP would inspire and entertain people of all age groups.

“Last year, I was robbed and lost all my projects. I am back with power and I have recovered everything that I lost, including money, cars, music projects and equipment,” he said.

“I am back to where I belong and I am expecting to trend because I have put all my efforts into this EP and my coming projects.”

Mahcoy said through the latest EP, he wanted to capture fans across generations.

“I recorded this EP to see how the listeners will react to the sound after a while without giving them new music. The EP is also about the fullness of my artistry as it carries a message that is understandable as every age can relate to my music,” he said.

“I believe the EP is going to be a stepping stone to different musical markets that is what we are aiming for. I am hoping that they will like the sound as I set out to reclaim my territory in the music industry after a challenging previous year.”

Mahcoy said the EP would be accompanied by visuals as requested by his fans.

“The EP features the likes of Mr Kata and Monster. I think team effort also played a huge part in the depth of the production as other artistes push and inspire you. There will be videos, especially for the hit tracks like Ndinofamba naJesu, Mwanangu and Hondo,” he said.

“I promise my fans that there is a lot coming and they should expect a lot of collaborations locally and internationally. I am going to be serious in this music industry and I will be releasing good music from now on as always.”

Mahcoy said he was working on a single featuring veteran local hip-hop artiste POY, adding that there was a lot in the pipeline.
