BULAWAYO poet Sithandazile “Stha” Dube might be known to many for her exploits in the showbiz industry, but off the stage, she is a teacher and a love of gardening.

Stha is a multi-talented artiste, who wears many jackets in life. She is a mother, a qualified teacher, poet, actress and scriptwriter.

Off the stage, the poet told NewsDay Life & Style that she did a lot of things.

“I am a teacher and most of my time is dedicated to the teenagers in the community. I also love gardening and during the lockdown, I started a herb garden just a patch in the yard,” she said.

“I love reading too — fiction, thriller and mystery. One of my many hobbies is watching children play. It is so satisfying.”

On surviving under COVID-19, the poet said she had come to realise how good it is to diversify as specialisation sometimes had its own limits when it came to income streams.

“The COVID-19 lessons have been that to be able to save. Stash something away for rainy days. Take advantage of the situation and create works about current affairs,” she said.

As a life lesson, Stha said she has learnt that nothing beats humility if one is working with people.
