Our motto as Rotarians is service above self so we saw it fit to donate face masks which are being channelled to the underprivileged people in our communities to prevent the spread of the coronavirus

By Donald Nyandoro The Bridge Rotary Club in Harare through their Mask around campaign donated face masks to Noble Hands Trust Foundation for the less-privileged as part of its goals to ‘Service above self’.

Speaking at the handover ceremony in Harare last week, Rotary club President Rumbidzai Tizora said as a group of problem solvers, their aim is to address seven key focus areas, including fighting diseases.

“Our motto as Rotarians is service above self so we saw it fit to donate face masks which are being channelled to the underprivileged people in our communities to prevent the spread of the coronavirus,” Tizora said.

Rotary club service projects chair, Charity Matumbi said they are fulfilling this year’s Rotary International theme ‘Serve to Change Lives’ as they urge other citizens to join them in helping vulnerable people.

“We are here to make changes in people’s lives. As you are all aware, Covid-19 is still with us and with this donation we are trying to support all the vulnerable groups so that they are protected from the pandemic. We hope that this support does not end here, but will also raise awareness to the rest of Zimbabwe to intensify efforts to assist those in need,” she said.

Noble Hands Trust foundation deputy provincial coordinator, Tafadzwa Samu applauded the gesture by the Rotary club saying they both share similar goals insofar as assisting the vulnerable is concerned.

“We are very grateful as the recipients of the donation which is going a long way in assisting the underprivileged people in minimising their chances of contracting Covid-19,” she said.

Noble Hands Trust foundation is a voluntary organisation which aims to provide social and economic benefits to people living with disabilities, orphans and children.
