Regional electric vehicle manufacturer and distributor, Agilitee has widened its scope by announcing a wholly owned green energy generating subsidiary Agilitee Power, which will implement various projects across the continent including in Zimbabwe, according to a statement released Friday.

Agilitee founder and chief executive officer (CEO), Mandla Lamba told shareholders that the new unit will become operational this September and will be headed by a yet to be disclosed top young black female CEO, as part of the company’s commitment towards gender equity and equality.

Agilitee was recently bestowed with the Standard Bank Top Women Award for Transformation.

“Agilitee Power is an energy generating company for Africa. It will aim to take households and businesses off the grid, reducing their reliance on the unsustainable electricity supply by Eskom” said Lamba.

Agilitee Power targets to connect 144 000 homes to its network over the next two years starting next January. The company’s vision is provision of cheaper green electricity that can run uninterrupted for 15 days with particular focus on middle to low-income homes.

Agilitee Power’s core business appears to be green technology software (Intellectual Property) IP and it will have an installation division that will install the facility in homes and businesses.
