ZPC Kariba coach Godfrey Tamirepi is hoping to exploit Caps United’s leaky defence when the two teams   face off in the Chibuku Super Cup Group 1 tie in Harare on Sunday.

The Kariba outfit is in fourth position in their pool, three points behind leaders Dynamos who are on eight points.

Their opponents Caps United are in second place with six points, the same as Harare City who are in third place because of an inferior goal difference.

With the top two teams qualifying for the next round of the competition, Tamirepi says they will take one game at a time and described the encounter against Caps United as a must-win.

The ZPC Kariba gaffer noted that while the Green Machine have been impressive in attack, they have been vulnerable in defence and vowed to take advantage of the lack of solidity in that critical area in their bid to stay on the hunt.

“We are in fourth position so far and three points behind the group leaders, Dynamos. So we will approach it game by game and if we are to stay in the run, we have to win against Caps United on Sunday. This is not to undermine our opponents,” Tamirepi said.

“They (Caps United) have done well so far offensively. They have scored six goals, but they have not done so well in defence. They have conceded five goals and we should take advantage of their leaky defence.

“On our part, I think we are somewhat balanced, we scored two goals and conceded two. We have been creating chances and all we need is to take our chances. We are looking forward to the encounter with Caps United.”

ZPC Kariba’s 1-0 victory over Yadah last weekend has galvanised them in their bid to make a mark in the biggest knockout football tournament in the country and are likely to come with full force against the Harare giants.

On the other hand, Caps United, who played out a 1-1 draw with bitter city rivals Dynamos last Sunday, will be desirous of maximum points as they seek to dethrone the group leaders.

While the Green Machine have welcomed back forwards Ian Nyoni and Leeroy Mavhunga from injury, they are still without the experienced duo of defender Valentine Musarurwa and winger Phineas Bhamusi.

Although they have resumed training, they are not being involved in most of their drills with the rest of the team, suggesting they are highly unlikely to be available for selection for the Sunday game.
