There’s no support for new artists: Hlatshwayo

RISING Bulawayo-based singer Alan Hlatshwayo said lack of recognition and connections were crippling amazing works of up-and-coming artistes.

In an interview with NewsDay Life & Style, Hlatshwayo said more platforms should be created where upcoming artists showcase their talents.

“We are facing different challenges as artistes which include lack of connections, not being recognised and being hated for the reasons we do not know. There is also an issue of top artistes having pride in collaborating with us junior artistes,” he said.

Hlatshwayo said local wheel spinners (DJs) should try their best to play and promote local music.

“We also noticed that more international artistes are being played in clubs than local ones so it is so hard for people to know us. I think there is also a need for more collaboration because I believe Bulawayo has much talent,” he said.

“We just have to be pioneers and by doing so we can have a greater movement that generations to come can benefit and take over to another level.”

Hlatshwayo recently released a single track titled the Preamble.
