BULAWAYO-BASED Afro dancehall and reggae musician Nomagugu “Mandie Mae” Nkomo (19) recently released a music video titled Add Dem Burden that was recorded at Pitbull Records.
Mandie Mae, who is also a dancer, song writer, and actress told NewsDay Life & Style that her music conveys life stories that most people face in their everyday life.
“Add Dem Burden is a song that looks at some of the things most people do not dialogue about. It talks about how people will pretend to love and support you just to get something, yet are the same people that try to bring you down and break you,” she said.
“The song is a fusion of Ndebele and patois, the popular reggae language, in the song I talk to my fans and encourage them to never stop aiming higher in life just because of people who discourage them.”
Mandie Mae is a two timer Bulawayo Arts Awards nominee has performed at the Bulawayo Credisi, Intwasa Arts Festival and Shoko Arts Festival.
“I broke into the music industry with my songs Mash up Di Place in December 2018 and have released 99 Percent featuring Acquillah K in February 2020 and What did l Say in July 2020 again,” she said.
“I have worked with big names in the city and country such as Murphy Cubic, Larynx, Black Orient, L Mchoney and shared stage with Holy Ten, Madlela Skhobokhobo and Qeqeshiwe.”
