THE Rainbow Amateur Netball League (RANL) is set to hold its annual general meeting (AGM) this Saturday in preparation for the 2021 season.

The AGM was supposed to be held in January, but it had to be shelved due to COVID-19 restrictions which affected all sporting events.

Local football has already resumed with the clubs gearing up for the Chibuku Super Cup second matches next weekend, while netball is set to follow suit.

RANL secretary-general Moses Gukurume has said matches will commence after the AGM.

He added that two more teams have confirmed participation in this year’s edition.

“We are expecting to start our games immediately after the AGM. Now 18 teams are going to be available with an addition of Rio Zim and Golden Valley,” Gukurume said.

He said the posts of chairperson, vice-chairperson, secretary-general, vice secretary-general, treasurer, fixtures secretary and organising secretary will be up for grabs at the AGM.

Glow Petroleum will inject funding for this season.

The teams that have confirmed participation include ZDF, Khami, Correctional Queens, Beta, Golden Valley, Green Buffaloes, Black Rhinos, Ngezi Platinum, Goldreef, Platinum, Green Fuel, Mambas, Tenax, Support Unit, Mutare City, Glow and Lusumbani.

Meanwhile, the RANL has not yet been registered as a national elite league by the Zimbabwe Netball Association since 2018 and the process is still underway.
