AFTER its recent launch in Bulawayo, the Dick Print play will be staged in Harare on June 26 at Jasen Mphepho Little Theatre.
The production that explores toxic masculinity in relation to sexuality among other issues, is a collaboration by local author John Mabuyane and actor-cum-film-director Elton Sibanda.
Mabuyane thanked Nhimbe Trust for its support in making it possible for them to reach other parts of the country.
“I am very excited to be embarking on a national tour with the play. l hope it will make a huge difference in people’s lives and help us men start a dialogue on toxic masculinity to help each other speak out,” he said.
“Above all, it’s sharpening my actors’ tools as l promise to better the performance with every show l do. The crew has become a second family to me. They have my back, always making things easy for me as an actor and producer of the play.”
Jasen Mphepho Little Theatre co-ordinator Carol Magenga said they were happy to be hosting the play, the first live performance since the outbreak of COVID-19.
“All along we had been resorting to uploading our productions on the Patsime TV, YouTube channel so this is really exciting for us and it’s promising to be an interesting production,” she said.

Nhimbe Trust director Josh Nyapimbi said: “John and Elton are graduates of the Nhimbe Trust Children in Theatre and Television Training Programme, and we are excited that they continue to make ground-breaking strides, creating high-quality productions.”
“We are also happy to be associated with this work. Hopefully we will have the production well received in Harare after its debut at Bulawayo Theatre.
“We are also hoping that the production may make it for the second edition of the Bulawayo Arts Festival which will take place from June 2 to 5.”
