PREMIER Soccer League (PSL) giants Dynamos are on collision course with city rivals Caps United over striker Newman Sianchali.

Sianchali switched from Caps to Dynamos following the expiry of his contract in December last year.

He was part of the Green Machine side that lost to FC Platinum in an intriguing conclusion to the league title race in 2019.

With PSL governors resolving at an annual general meeting last month on a roll over of contracts following the suspension of domestic football due to COVID-19-induced lockdowns last year, Caps are reportedly pushing to be compensated for taking care of the player during that period. Details of the amount the Green Machine are demanding could not be ascertained yesterday.

Dynamos spokesperson Yvonne Mangunda yesterday said the players concerned or their agents were the right people to comment on the issue.

This also comes amid reports Dynamos snatched Shadreck Nyahwa from Bulawayo Chiefs without the latter’s consent and the Bulawayo club is also demanding compensation.

Caps are also understood to be demanding compensation from FC Platinum who are reported to be angling to sign Innocent Mucheneka.

Mucheneka had signed a one-year contract with the Green Machine, but moved to FC Platinum after the expiry of his contract and is currently training with them.

“The Caps position is very clear on players who are moving on but did not provide service last year. The club has got to be compensated by clubs that want to engage those players and that includes Sianchali and Mucheneka. The only player who left with the full blessing of the club is Wallace Magalane.  His (Magalane) move to FC Platinum was a transfer, so there are no issues about him,” the source said.

Caps are among several clubs that had signed players in preparation for the 2020 season before football action was halted.

Several players saw their one-year contracts lapse without them kicking the ball for their respective clubs.

Former champions — Chicken Inn are refusing to clear forward Valentine Kadonzvo, who is targeting a move to Ngezi Platinum as they demand some compensation.

Army side Black Rhinos are also targeting to bring on board Gareth Madhake from Harare City, but it now looks unlikely as the Sunshine City Boys are demanding compensation for the deal to be consummated.

Domestic football restart, which had been scheduled for this weekend, has been pushed back to May 22 as the PSL hierarchy scouts for potential sponsors.
