WITH exactly one week left before his highly-anticipated fight in the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC), Slyvester Chipfumbu is putting final touches to his gruelling preparations.
The Gweru-born fighter is set to take on the bantamweight title holder Faeez Jacobs on May 8 in what he has described as the biggest fight of his career.
For him, this will be a return to the octagon cage since his last bout against Asiashu Tshitamba in December 2019 which he won resoundingly.
He will be hoping to build on that win, although he is first to admit that it will not be a wall in the park.
“It’s been obviously hectic, coming back to camp after a long while but now with the days remaining, I am taking time to recover, rest and make sure I focus on the readiness of my mind,” Chipfumbu told the BigAl Podcast.
“The more I train, is the more I have my mind ready. To say I am fit and prepared for the fight which I know will be difficult.
“The last seven weeks in camp have been hectic and action packed, but I believe it has helped me regain myself after a long time away from such training due to COVID-19 restrictions.

“I am anticipating a tough fight and I hope to do well and win. My trainers have done their best in enhancing my skills.”
Meanwhile the EFC will also host seven further events but the headline fight on the card is this bantamweight title fight between South Africa’s “Troublemaker” Jacobs and Chipfumbu.
