SINGER and rapper Munyaradzi “Blasta” Bopota says he has gained a lot from legendary gospel singer Diva Mafunga when they were working on their collaboration titled Makata.

The duet Makata is Blasta’s second track of the year, following the success of Pindirai.

Blasta told NewsDay Life & Style that Makata is filled with a message of hope and encourages people to work hard even when the world is against them.

“I always thrive to work with people who have travelled the musical path before. I know I will learn a lot from them and I did get a lot of musical and life lessons that impacted to me,” he said.

“Diva Mafunga is a humble man who takes his craft seriously and when I started working with him, I figured out that he is a perfectionist who wants to perfect his craft and to this effect it took a while to come up with the final product we have now.”

He added: “I thank him (Mafunga), for the wise words and mentoring that he impacted on me whilst we work together and I look forward to doing more projects with him.”

Blasta said he is working on more projects that will be released this year as well as working on his brand and image as an artist.

“I have been working hard to make my brand visible and one of the methods I have employed is to be readily accessible on the internet by creating a personal website where my music, works, new projects or gigs can be accessed on,” he said.

In the past, Blasta has collaborated with the late dancehall singer Soul Jah Love, Pauline Gundidza, Leonard Mapfumo, Nicholas Zacharia, Mbeu, P Mula, and Tango.
