A MACHETE-WIELDING man from Kanyemba in Mt Darwin on Wednesday stormed his ex-wife’s house and allegedly attempted to kill her in a fit of jealous, police have said.

Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe confirmed the case and identified the accused as Meeting Joko.

“We arrested Joko, who attempted to kill (ex-wife Tapiwa) Gombo after accusing her of prostitution despite having separated for four years,”Mundembe said.

Joko allegedly broke into Gombo’s house shouting and accusing her of engaging in prostitution. He allegedly struck her several times on the head.

Joko escaped when neighbours came to Gombo’s rescue.

She was rushed to Chapoto Clinic before being referred to Badombe Hospital in Zambia for further treatment.

Simbarashe Gombo, Tapiwa’s brother, reported the matter at Kanyemba Police Station, leading to the accused’s arrest.
