A 78-YEAR-OLD Bindura man was arrested after he allegedly raped his 36-year-old daughter.

The man (name withheld) from Nekati village, Bindura appeared before magistrate Ethel Chichera facing a rape charge. He was remanded in custody to March 3.

The State led by Vincent Marunya alleged that on December 9 around midnight, the accused entered his daughter’s kitchen hut, undressed and ordered his daughter to be silent.

He allegedly covered her mouth with his hands before raping her.

After the rape the man ordered her not to tell anyone about the incident.

However, the daughter narrated the ordeal to her mother who begged her to forgive her father.

But the daughter reported the matter to Chief Masembura’s court and she was advised to report the matter to the police.

On January 25, she filed a police report which led to the arrest of her father.
