THE Mutare City Council has given a two-year grace period to residents to regularise their illegal structures with the local authority.

Council spokesperson Spren Mutiwi in a statement yesterday said: “Notice is hereby given that the two months grace period which was given to all property owners to regularise their unproved structures such as durawalls, houses, stands, among a host of others is ending on August 31.”

He added: “All those who did not take the chance to regularise their structures are advised the council will take stern measures.

“All properly owners who established structures without seeking council approval are warned that approved penalties will apply upon the expiry of the above mentioned grace period.

“Take advantage of the window period to regularise your building structures.”
