Police in Dema, Mashonaland East province, have arrested a 23-year-old man who allegedly killed his lover after being intimate her inside a car.
The suspect, Shephered Ndemera of Madoro village, under Chief Seke, is currently assisting police with investigations following the murder of his girlfriend Nokhutula Shana of Chitungwiza.
Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tendai Mwanza confirmed the incident.
“I confirm a murder case that occurred in Dema where a female corpse was discovered lying in a bush,” Mwanza said.
“The suspect has since been arrested and is leading the police with investigations. We urge the public to exercise restraint during misunderstandings to avoid such tragic incidences.”
It is reported that on August 16, at around 7pm the suspect invited his girlfriend to come and spend a night with him in a car which had broken down along Chirasavana-Gombe Road.
The deceased proceeded to the place and reportedly joined the suspect at his love nest before a misunderstanding over infidelity arose which degenerated into a physical fight.

After the suspect realised that his girlfriend had died, he allegedly carried the body and dumped it in a bush about 200m from the scene.
The deceased’s body was discovered by a villager the following morning who alerted the police in Dema.
The police officers attended the scene and discovered that the half-naked corpse had bites all over the face and a deep cut on the head. The police also discovered blood stains inside the vehicle which was used as a love nest by the two, leading to Ndemera’s arrest.
