The ZimTrade Annual Exporters’ Conference, which was scheduled for 10-11 October has been moved to 17-18 October at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre.

The ZimTrade Annual Exporters’ Conference, which was scheduled for 10-11 October has been moved to 17-18 October at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre.

Given the successful engagements at previous conferences, there has been overwhelming response from local participants who want to take part in the event.

As the conference is taking place in Bulawayo for the first time, the rescheduling was done to ensure maximum participation of all stakeholders.

Thus, the conference will be held on 17 October at the ZITF Grounds, with the 2018 Exporters of the Year Awards scheduled for Holiday Inn that evening.

The Buyers’ Seminar will now be held on 18 October at Holiday Inn.

The conference, taking place under the theme, “Rethink, Reform, Export!” is set to bring together the government, local exporters, industry players, academia, researchers and sector experts to discuss best approaches aimed at addressing challenges faced by local businesses.

The ZimTrade Annual Exporters’ Conference is designed to bring together all stakeholders concerned with exports under one roof to map a way forward on how to stimulate production and export growth.

The Conference aims to foster dialogue and linkages between delegates and business leaders from different sectors will meet to come up with solutions that will improve Zimbabwe’s trade balance.

From issues raised during the Annual Exporter’s Conference, key outcomes that are industry-driven will be produced.

These resolutions will inform engagement activities that ZimTrade, the national trade development and promotion organisation, will use to facilitate on improving Zimbabwe’s export capacity and the ease of doing export business.

In line with the devolution drive by the Government of Zimbabwe, this is the first time the conference is being held out of Harare and given the potential that Bulawayo represents as an industrial hub and also its declaration as a Special Economic Zone.

As in the previous years, the Conference will be followed by an Awards Gala Dinner. A Buyers’ Seminar will be held on 18 October to connect local exporters with buyers from the region, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom.

The awards gala is an event where Zimbabwe’s leading exporters in a range of categories will be recognized for their efforts and successes in reaching markets beyond our borders This year’s event will be supported by a Buyers’ Seminar where local exporters and buyers from other countries to share ideas that will boost exports of local industries. Buyers have been invited from Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Namibia, United Kingdom and Zambia.
