PG Industries Zimbabwe (PGIZ) last week donated building materials worth thousands of dollars to an orphanage in Hatcliffe, Harare.

Hossana Love in Africa Children’s Home, located on the peripheries of Hatcliffe high-density suburb, received glass, putty, thinners, standard doors, locksets, window sills and cement.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, PGIZ head of sales and marketing, Phoebe Wei said the company was fulfilling its obligation of helping the need and vulnerable members of society.

“I am very honoured, on behalf of PG Industries Zimbabwe shareholders and staff, to be able to present a donation to the children’s home and Hossana Primary Cchool. As an organisation, we fully understand what the children need. We also understand what shelter and education means for them. Zimbabwe’s hope lies on children and children’s hope lies on proper care and education,” Wei said.

The orphanage has 24 inmates, but has the capacity to accommodate more.

The orphanage has a primary school block, hall and house, with PGIZ donation going towards the construction of more classroom blocks.

The institution’s director Abel Chivambo said the donation will go a long way in improving children’s lives.

PGIZ is a major manufacturer and distributor of construction materials in Zimbabwe.
