AFRO-FUSION musician Ernest “Nesto” Mnandi, who topped the charts with his song, My Chocolate, 11 years ago said he was now eyeing the bigger music platforms as his video Bidibiba is now on rotation on Trace Africa.

The video of the new song featuring Better Man hit-maker, Taurai Mandebvu, was released three months ago.

“It’s a big move for any artiste to be recognised on continental platforms. It’s an honour to have content from Zimbabwe being put on rotation with other big African names in the game,” Nesto said.

“Having this song on a continental platform has helped and will continue to help with my networking as it becomes easier to negotiate collaborations and get into international festivals.”

The musician said he had been on low key for quite some time because he was strategising on how to penetrate new markets.

“Our strategy has been deliberate to get on bigger platforms, because the Zimbabwean market is very difficult to please nowadays. So, taking a direction of doing quality visuals and marketing them on a continental scale can only boost support and recognition. Audio without visuals doesn’t go far and when you have a video it pushes the work quicker and further,” he said.

“The music industry is now a big vehicle for brands to push their products in these videos, so product placement and brand association is something we have worked on, as shown in this piece of work.”

The singer released a seven-track extended playlist titled Forever last year and is also currently working on its videos.
